Synopsis[]
Ben and Leo have a discussion regarding where Ben will live once he moves to New York. Ben says that he would like a dorm room as well as an apartment this is for his own selfish resoning. His father explains that he is allowed to have both, but that he will be on a budget, and says that he won't allow him to have an apartment that is twice as much money as a dorm room. Ben says that he wants something big enough for him and Amy to share, and Leo comes out and asks Ben what's he's hoping for. Leo asks him if he thinks that Amy will be Ricky's wife in Valley Glen and Ben's girlfriend in New York, and Ben says that he wants Amy to break off the engagement and call off the wedding to Ricky and live with him in New York as a friend.
Grace and Kathleen talk about how George's mother, Eva, is there at their house to help out. Grace says that nobody can take Victoria's place, and that they were robbed a relationship with her because her grandfather was involved in some kind of a cult. Grace goes on to say that just because Jack wants to marry her right now, doesn't mean she will drop everything to marry him, because she isn't ready to get married. Kathleen reminds her that she is wearing an engagement ring, and Grace replies that she would prefer a long engagement. Kathleen asks her if that's what she really wants, and Grace says that she wants to be free to make her own choices and that she'll never end up with a man who will tell her what to do. She also avoids Kathleen's question of whether or not she wants to go to college with Jack.
Amy informs Anne that she will be going to summer school in New York. She goes on to say that she's giving Ricky what she wants by marrying him, and Anne tells her to do one or the other. When Amy questions her mother's answer, Anne says it's because going to school in New York and marrying Ricky do not go together. She says that she will sell the house, and that Amy can use the money to go to school in New York. Amy goes on by saying that she could not afford to live as a single mother in New York and that she believes that John would be better off in Valley Glen with Ricky. When Amy reminds Anne that she already told Ricky that she would marry him, Anne shrugs, unwilling to give her any more help.
